Yeah, he seemed to go crazy after Covid. Like he understood that what happened with Covid was bad, but then just what seemed to be silence on the Trucker Protest, and then it came to him going crazy about Trump. He was reacting to January 6th in 2024 than he did in 2020. It made no sense.
After Trump was shot, his response was: "Say nothing! Do nothing! Post nothing! Do not even respond to anything! Don't even talk about it!" He was basically saying to completely ignore it. He was basically urging the right to completely ignore an attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Lunacy. I wouldn't try to urge that on any party without being an obvious subversive. It's clearly a dishonest and partisan take to support anything anti-Trump.
Even with this, he's pretending it's a Moral Panic. Bro, it's not a Moral Panic, it's a revenge cancel campaign. There's no panic beyond the concern I have that maybe 20-30% of people on the Center-Left and further would have me killed. I assumed it was only 8-10%, and people thought I was crazy.
Shoe's a Huey Long style Leftist Populist, I know those dudes, and they're kinda cooky but they're good people. That's the RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, and Dennis Kucinich types. That wing of politics that isn't Communist/Socialist has been kicked around since Reconstruction, when the Whigs/Democrats used White Supremacy to lock down the South and destroy Reconstruction. Along with annihilating the Republicans, they also destroyed the old Democratic, Jacksonian, Populists and a new faction of white & black farmers that were called the "Fusionists".
Silly, but good people. Those are "lefties" that are basically harmless because they don't have anything to do with Marxism, and typically have a strong anti-establishment mentality. Those are the guys who aren't really "Leftists" on the Left, they just have a strong government care-taker instinct, and "fair play" instinct, and just don't know that they've never actually been Leftwing.
Yeah, the Huey Long Leftist I have always said that even though I dont think all of their ideas would work (I am actually not totally dissuaded on the tax policy he came up with) and that they tend to overlook the problems that came with Long's ideas (there is a reason Louisiana was/is one of the most corrupt and underdeveloped states in the nation), if they won an election I could at least live with it and survive until the next one, and be with some simple "Told you so" when things happen and might not go according to plan. After all, I at least trust they would listen.
As opposed to the Mamdani or AOC types, who would make me start counting my ammo and double checking that I am sure on who my battle buddies are.
Honestly, with some of the arguments he got up to recently, it seems like Dev took the even more bizarre and unhinged answer of he seems to unironically think that the government is always right, and that we should be some technocracy of expert elites. Which is such a bizarre take because it is literally the system we have been living under that he calls out issues with all the time. But I guess he just became like the Leftist he used to decry and is like 5 seconds away from saying "Real Technocracy hasnt been tried yet!"
And, oh god. They would absolutely call Long a Fascist when they saw his anti-crime policy. If he took one look at any New Orleans and just be like, "Well that dog just don't hunt! Aw ight. We goin' clear it out tonight. Rattle 'em, boys!"
Yes, there is a brain worm in the "lib-dem" if I can describe people by a british party, which makes them think that the "experts" know literally everything, when in reality they are about as well informed, or more so, than the people they are listening to.
It is possible that a technocracy could exist, but it would have to exist with a level of such high integrity for civil governance that it would be near utopian. Unfortunately, technocracy has always been a Socialist pipe-dream and rationalization of political power. They always claimed that Socialism and Communism were the only "rational" way to run things, and it was persuasive in 1890, but sure as shit not any more.
I really, really want Shoe to do a video on Huey P Long, so I can get a better grip on exactly what she means when she talks about him and calls herself 'A Huey P Long Socialist'.
Because there's alot of room for interpretation, there, when you start looking into the context of what Long was doing, and where, and why. Some people talk him up as a 'socialist', when said socialist ideals were crazy stuff like... building roads. Or having the State pay for... children's school books. Or building technical colleges.
Not exactly what people think about when hearing the term 'socialist'.
So, yeah. I'm not calling her an idiot, but I'd love to hear her talk more about all that.
I think it would be great, it would be partisan, but it would be great.
It's not like the current narrative of: "Huey Long was an American Fascist" ... despite not being part of the American Fascists, and explicitly attacking FDR from the Left... isn't explicitly partisan in and of itself.
Moreover, I feel like the Left has completely memory-holed the existence of Huey Long specifically because he's a non-Marxist, non-Communist, Populist Leftist that people would start actively wanting to create.
