Kind of a sidebar, but it feels like the leaders on both sides have almost no control over this situation.
Leftist leaders are “doing the right thing” and denouncing political violence, but their constituents are doing no such thing. They are openly celebrating the assassination in ways and numbers I frankly didn’t expect. The vast majority of the left are seemingly done with pretending they oppose terrorism against their political and cultural opponents.
The right is, by and large, reciprocating the sentiment. I’m seeing almost no calls for peace or restraint. Everyone wants blood, order of events be damned.
Because the general right wing is waking up to the civil war that's been brewing, and finally realizing the left is terminal. There's no negotiation with literal demons

No, they're not. At this exact moment some of they may be, but a couple days ago and a couple days from now it's "everyone who disagrees with me is a nazi fascist bigoted monster who wants to murder children!"
Anyone else remember Biden's campaign announcement in for the 2020 presidential run, which was essentially "Well, I wanted to retire but Trump called Nazis very fine people so I have to join the race to stop Orange Bad Man!"
You don't get to spend years - frankly, decades - constantly calling your political opponents evil monsters and then say "no, political violence bad!" for 24 hrs after someone gets shot.
Call me when they recant years of rhetoric and go after people on their side committing violence (ideally, threatening violence but even just the ones committing violence would be a start) with even half the fervor they go after people who dare criticize illegal immigration and trannies.
edit: Perfect example - Democrats protest over a request for a moment of silence in congress for Charlie Kirk. Any "oh, political violence bad!" stuff is purely an optics attempt from the overwhelming majority of them.

After the moment of silence ended, Bobert requested a spoken prayer. The speaker acknowledged the request, saying there'd be a private one soon. THEN the Dems went APE-SHIT and started screaming like howler monkeys! Many voices were screaming, mostly female ones. They should all be named & shamed, they tossed out of office.
Liberals are happy to pay lip service, but hate the idea of actual action!
Because this is just another case in a string of assassinations that the left committed to their political rivals. All the while the leaders of the left keep pushing for more by dehumanising the right. So let just say that I want everyone of these leftoids in a padded cell for life at a minimum
We must all strongly denounce the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Political violence is NEVER justified. The attacker must be brought to justice. And free speech must be upheld. Pray for Mr. Kirk and his family.
