The biggest criticism many of us have always had of Kirk was that he always came across as if he were trying to win over the old establishment. He seemed like one of those "Young Republican" types who was trying to build himself up as the next generation of the GOP by just adding a bit of youthful polish to the old Boomer political machine. In essence, that he was the "safe" pair of hands on the young side of the right, who could be trusted to continue the project without meaningfully shaking anything up. The one who promised to return us all to the reassuring stability of the old paradigm.
And now, ironically enough, a Boomer has just demonstrated yet again why that will never be possible.
I never had much patience for Kirk, but he deserved to live a long and happy life. His wife deserves a husband and, most importantly, his kids deserve their father. Instead, they have to face a future without him and all of us now face a future where the genie he was trying to put back in the bottle just became much more real and dangerous.

But that is why Trump won. Because people like Kirk existed. You NEVER let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If nobody like Kirk won them over, they could've easily voted for Kamala because GOP Boomers are idiots.
People in this sub need to understand they are a minority voice. You can bitch about the Jews all you want here and circlejerk about white ethnonationalism because you are a minority voice.
You don't pull the trainwreck that is the leftist Overton window back to the right/center by only focusing and agreeing with the "fringes". You drag along the moderates and then show why shit like strict immigration policies work for successful countries, etc.
Truth. Charlie was really important, and he was starting to come around.
