Some self-awareness from The Mouse: Disney understand that is has lost Gen-Z males to an incredible degree and is actively trying to get them back (archive.is)

I will say one thing, is that one of the things I do wish that Disney did was make the Black Widow movie like 7 years before it actually happened, mostly because what happened in the movie would have been better as post-Winter Soldier, before Age of Ultron, instead of in between Civil War and Infinity War. Albeit a lot of that is because I wish Yelena Belova as a character was introduced sooner.

Edit: Jonathan Majors’ sexual assault allegations leading to them abandoning Kang the Conquerer as a character is also a large part of why post-Endgame the MCU feels kind of aimless

Maybe they should stop being such fucktards and raceswapping so many characters comic readers have enjoyed for literally decades.

If they had kept Kang faceless and behind his blue mask in Loki then even with Majors being fired they could have replaced him with literally anyone. Even any voice change could be dismissed as being a result of a modulator or some other reasons.

But no, they had to literally do "Kangz: The Movie", because they focus too much on THE MESSAGE and now it's finally costing them the money countless old school geeks warned was coming.

Burn in hubris, Disney.

Even looking beyond the woke shit, Disney has mishandled business terribly. Crazy 150-200+ million dollars budgets aren't going to make money when they're mediocre as hell, a family of 4 can expect to pay close to $50 JUST to see a movie in theaters (and close to $100 if they bother to get snacks and drinks for the kids), and said movie is going to be available to watch at home in like 3-4 months.

Going to the theater is no longer a decently priced pass time. Not when you can get Disney+ for an entire month for like $15 and watch the movie you want at home, for as many times as you want for an entire month.

The amusement parks have also priced out the average American. In the short term, Disney doesn't give a fuck, because they just get rich tourists from around the world to spend their money instead. But that's fewer Americans who will have cherished memories of a magical family vacation, that's fewer manchildren/womenchildren who like to periodically go back to Disneyland once or twice a year, etc. And when that happens, you've lose consumers AND it means that THEIR children are less likely to become Disney consumers.

You got Disney and Pixar and the MCU and Star Wars and all of these franchises have burned down most of their good will. People are no longer showing up JUST to see the next movie because it exists. Those days are gone. The only way to save anything is to start producing high quality products again, but that requires more long-term thinking than a bunch of Hollywood executives can probably manage.

If Godzilla Minus One cost less than $20 million, there's no reason for an MCU movie to cost $300 million.
