Trump and Vance destroyed themselves over this, for no reason. Very sad.
Also, it's fucking wild that Howard Lutnick started showing up fucking everywhere once this Epstein shit kicked off. They're rubbing it in all of our faces. And it's wild he's always so expressive and willing to laugh and stuff. Most people who are around POTUS don't act like that.
It's got to be a humiliation ritual. Epstein's neighbor (among other connections) suddenly got shoved into the spotlight when Trump started lying to our faces. Miss me with that BULLSHIT.
I can't get over how badly all this was handled. And then we had Trump's personal lawyer interviewing Jizzlane, to clear things up, but they won't release the transcript. It's like they're intentionally trying to blow up everything. It's hard to come up with a scenario where they fuck it up worse.
The Epstein saga implicates both big players in the Democrats and the Republicans, due to the long association Epstein had with various intelligence services. First the CIA was in bed with the Republicans, then they were in bed with the Democrats. Epstein made routine visits to Bill Clinton's White House. At least one of Trump's big donors will get exposed. Trump himself will probably be not.
Never said he will be, and I agree he's probably not involved.
It's not about Trump, or even Epstein. It's about the corruption in the government as a whole, and how they can seemingly make everyone dance on their strings.
This wouldn't be an issue, if Trump hadn't made it one, and then totally failed to deliver. In some ways I appreciate it. They're showing everyone just how fake and controlled everything is, and that exposure is something to celebrate.
Still, all he had to do to deflect this was to claim that the evidence had been tampered with during JoePedo's term and was no longer admissible in court. If he'd just done that, everyone currently angry at Trump over Epstein would be angry at the previous administration instead. What a botch calling it a hoax was. Unless, of course, it was intentional to throw away Congress in the midterms.
Or even just be sympathetic with the people wanting the release, if he had said something like "I know it's disappointing, but the evidence we have in the Epstein case does not implicate anyone else", sure plenty of people (like myself) wouldn't believe it, or at least would only be willing to believe that the files were destroyed or tampered with, but no one (besides the usual suspects) would blame Trump over it. His whole "If you want the Epstein files released then you're a traitor and I spurn you!!!" is just making it seem like he's trying to cover something up.
No, he's probably just following orders to end and bury it.
Politicians on both sides and many extremely wealthy people aren't going to allow themselves to be exposed as having had sex with minors as soon as the opportunity was presented to them.
He's doing a horrible job of burying it. Not because of malicious compliance though, but most likely because his bombastic "offense is the best defense" style only works when you're telling the truth.
There is no way Trump ever stops caring about public opinion, regardless of what he does. It's endemic to his personality. This is a blunt and thoughtless mafia order from Israel, probably the most obvious in the history of the country.
Vance hasn't destroyed himself as far as I'm concerned. That's why he's stayed basically silent on the issue. He's been completely over-ruled.
The fact that Ghislaine is still being interviewed, and congressional Republicans are still issuing subpoenas tells me that there is still an effort to work on this, but not in front of Trump's face.

He's pretty much succeeded in burying it legally.
As for public opinion: either he's failing at it or he stopped caring long ago.
