They had 7-8 years to create whatever they wanted. Or just delete everything else and leave only Trump flying between NY and Florida on Epsteins plane as the only remaining evidence of anything.
If you think there's a physical "list" that the FBI is just keeping in a vault somewhere I have a bridge to sell you.
Trump was completely transparent with one of the earliest investigations of Epstein and his bullshit.
His accounts were verified by testimony of Epstein 'models' at the time.
He visited Epstein's NY property. He enjoyed the conversation of the other celebrities there. He refused all offers of food or massages (or "massages') from the ladies.
Later Trump got into a beef with Epstein about some real estate thing, and hated his guts.
If Trump is going soft on this matter, it is to protect the Israeli interests, rather than to protect himself.
yeah this whole "Trump is actually an epstein client" is a weird cope. The truth is stranger then fiction no doubt.
It’s retarded. Trump is in the Epstein files (in an incriminating way) and that didn’t get leaked in any way, at any point in the last decade. Sure. That’s believable.
Criticizing Trump’s handling of the files is reasonable; it’s been pretty atrocious. Rushing to such a laughable conclusion as “Trump is in the files”… that’s the kind of thing you have to make a note of who you see saying it, because it’s so incredible that the speaker must be either a moron or someone with an agenda.

Considering his tune changed afterwards to some variation of "there are no files" and "Obama/Biden tampered with them so you can't trust anything in them anyway" he almost certainly was told something along the lines of them planting his name and involvement to levels he knows isn't true.
Which is likely why he keeps dancing around it, trying to figure out the best way to dodge the trap they left set for him in there.
This is definitely the explanation that is in the right ballpark.
