He quite clearly held back the majority of the movie and most of it was about his internal struggle with knowing he was doing the right thing. Superman gets his ass kicked alot but always wins. That's one of the core parts of his character. This idea that he's some all powerful god that never struggles in a fight is new. It's why he used to randomly come up with goofy ass new powers. He fought himself with Luthor's brain and held back until the population wasnt threatened and he was sure he wasnt doing the wrong thing out of hubris. Synder should be drummed out of the industry for the damage he's done to Superman
