Big Tech's malice knows no limit. Only a retard would get a smart home that can't operate on a LAN without an internet connection (I'm not familiar enough with the smart home market to know if those exist, although there's no theoretical reason they shouldn't).
They really aren't? Zigbee devices are one of the cheapest in the smart home scene. And it's not hard to set up your own hub. You can even run it on your own PC, hook a 30 dollar zigbee coordinator up to it and suddenly you have your own localized smart home. Wifi shit is actually more expensive on average

I think the devices were lan capable only but the new ceo pushed out a new firmware that removed that
