I've been accused of sycophancy around here for telling people to not overreact over every little thing he does that seems wrong, and even I really don't have much energy to disagree on this one. Its a massive fuckup with no real silver line, either he is spitting in our face directly or had his string pulled hard enough to be this shameless and revealed how powerful someone is behind the scenes.
I didn't believe we'd ever really get the list, I was shocked Bondi was acting like it was gonna happen, but their attempted spin on it is so fucking bad that it turned from an "of course" acceptance to quite a chunk of anger. He is retarded to try whatever he is trying to do, and no one should let him forget that.
I still don't think its quite as world ending as people think. Of course it'll look bad on approval ratings right now, when tempers are high and its fresh in people's minds. If he can successfully continue the deportation train and other economic forces, something with direct benefits that most Americans can walk outside and see, it'll probably end up just being a stain on his legacy instead of the end of it.
I agree there's a lot of over-reaction, but he seems to be not helping himself and he's making it pretty hard to argue this is a 4-d chess move to get enough public pressure to actually launch the investigation.
I agree that I didn't think we'd get the list or anything... but then why fuck it up so hard that you claim you have it, claim the NY FBI is hiding it from you, and then say there's nothing. Even from a purely cynical position, that's ultra-stupid. Blondi really does need to go.
I agree entirely. I said it down below that the reality was likely always going to be this way, but his handling of that reality is the real problem regardless. Whatever he is trying to pull is backfiring hard, and if it is some QuadD Chess move (in his mind) then it better work pretty fucking good to offset that.
Like, he said on camera yesterday "Obama and Biden fucked with the list, we can't trust anything on it now" and that was literally all he needed to say. Bondi "had it" ready, they looked deeper and figured out it was tampered with at the last second, and then scrambled to not look like fools after hyping it up before finally giving up and just eating the egg.
That's a pathetic and stupid reason, but its at least a fucking reason that we can swallow as probably being true to some extent. Nobody would honestly believe half the names on it (whether its their guy, or someone they hated not being there), and that's a reason. But he didn't do that, that's his Page 7 newspaper correction that nobody is going to hear. He went full guns shitting on people, and now he suffers the effect of that.
It's weird because I'm certain that Trump's attitude would be to burn anyone who was a pedophile. Just the same way that I don't believe for one second that Trump actually dropped the Butler, PA investigation with a couple of suspensions. That's not like him, but I can't (for the life of me) see what he's holding back for.
Sure, something something Israel, but that creates leverage that he can use against Israel (or people in it). If he's gonna hold a Sword of Damocles over someone's head, he needs to show evidence that he's prepared to use it. Same reason he needed to bomb Iran as a show of force for the rest of the planet that the we can project power still.
Frankly, if he just came out and said, openly, "I'm using the pedo tapes to blackmail people into co-operating with me, that's why I can't release it", I'd buy it and give him some leniency. I mean, he doesn't that a couple times a year, like when he said "Everybody in DC loves war, it's weird." and "We're selling weapons to the Saudis because we're gonna make a lot of money."
The only thing that keeps making sense to me is that somebody pulled a string, whether blackmail or threat, that was strong enough to get him in line and he is just letting it happen to pursue the rest of his agenda.
There are far too many pieces missing for us to be certain of anything right now, other than it was a massive fuckup and he is the one holding the bag for it.
