It's weird because I'm certain that Trump's attitude would be to burn anyone who was a pedophile. Just the same way that I don't believe for one second that Trump actually dropped the Butler, PA investigation with a couple of suspensions. That's not like him, but I can't (for the life of me) see what he's holding back for.
Sure, something something Israel, but that creates leverage that he can use against Israel (or people in it). If he's gonna hold a Sword of Damocles over someone's head, he needs to show evidence that he's prepared to use it. Same reason he needed to bomb Iran as a show of force for the rest of the planet that the we can project power still.
Frankly, if he just came out and said, openly, "I'm using the pedo tapes to blackmail people into co-operating with me, that's why I can't release it", I'd buy it and give him some leniency. I mean, he doesn't that a couple times a year, like when he said "Everybody in DC loves war, it's weird." and "We're selling weapons to the Saudis because we're gonna make a lot of money."
That's not like him, but I can't (for the life of me) see what he's holding back for.
The only thing that keeps making sense to me is that somebody pulled a string, whether blackmail or threat, that was strong enough to get him in line and he is just letting it happen to pursue the rest of his agenda.
There are far too many pieces missing for us to be certain of anything right now, other than it was a massive fuckup and he is the one holding the bag for it.
I do think there's one hypothesis that works, and I think it might be the most plausible.
The list is so bad, that it will kill the entire Neo-Liberal Order, almost overnight, like the fall of Communism... but there's nothing to replace it in the resulting power vacuum, and every single institution that's been captured by the Neo-Liberal Order will die with it. A true "General Uprising" might actually take place and smash every strategy an plan that Trump has to reform these institutions, and he's not willing to take the revolutionary step that the rest of us are at.
And when I mean bad, I mean, people storming government buildings in Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, and more (maybe even in Israel given Netanyahu's delicate political stance); all while China and Russia suddenly become the final arbiters of international morality because their hands look clean. It's so bad that the EU collapses before 2028. It's so bad that the British government collapses. It's so bad the English crown collapses, and the House of Windsor is dissolved causing a monarchial succession crisis. If Trump is told that that is the likely outcome, then I'd say he'd balk because he wants to save the west as he remembers it without having to rebuild from the foundation... which I don't think is possible.
