Void released a tone-deaf follow-up "clarification" that only made things worse, because it simply says that "Yes we censored these things on PC, here's some photos to prove it. We really had no choice. No we don't care what you think. Have a nice day!"
This reminds me ironically of another company that was going to do this to enter the Chinese market, Ubisoft.
Was many years ago and it was R6 Siege but they ended up not doing it due to backlash and I think they sold a different version to China. The fact this studio can't do the same for console is just stocking this backlash.
Haven't seen that confirmed but that is usually how it works. An update will come down on steam and unless you have updates turned off you'll get the new censored assets. Honestly one area I wish StopKiliingGames would look at, but they didn't want to bite off more than they can chew.
I was going to buy it on the sale. Saw the mostly negative reviews recently and changed my mind. Now I won’t out of principle.
I mean all it would have taken was to run a few different textures and maybe a couple lines of code to change things for the console releases. Most modern engines you can query the target platform in code. Nothing more than a couple if statements fixes the issue.
Wish i could refund it
While i enjoyed the game the devs sold their integrity (or lack thereof) for a pile of shekels
They can't keep getting away with it!
Fortunately I never bought it.
Yea, had it on my wishlist ... had.
Same here.
Loved the weapon handling and slower paced, methodical shooting encounters, but then they had to go and do this.
Not surprising because they had some other censorship issues back before during early access, I think.

Is this censorship after people have bought and played it?

Then we are way overdue for some kind of patch saver to catch these changes and create a user patch so people can revert these changes.
