Which is why everyone excusing it when it's initiated under the guise of "oh it's just to age-gate porn sites" is too retarded to be allowed access to the internet to begin with or is outright malicious.
Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see this shit coming a mile away.
They started with porn in Texas two years ago, and I figured they were just trying to ban porn.
Now they are going after "social media", anything where you can post a message like this one. And I have seen through the veil now.
Also telling, they demand "commercial" age verification, not non-profit, not a local government program or University ID, a local church can't set up age verification as a community service, only for profit corporations. Which means not all the legislators were on board and some were given investment opportunities

It also means they plan to send your data to Mossad-backed identity management firms and Palantir to store in their global person databank. If that wasn't the goal there are tons of technical and less-technical alternative solutions.
To their slight credit, the law states they cannot store the information and it cannot be used for any other purpose. But I don't think there are any penalties for that.
But I know how off the shelf server software works. For reliability and performance, there are layers upon layers of logging, buffering and caching at every single off-the-shelf solution they use to implement the final software product.
All of those can be used to recover the info, by whatever gets access to the system. Be that an employee who wants to sell the data, a virus, a lawyer with a subpeona, a CIA agent, a federal agent with no heed to state law, or the company who "accidentally" sells the data with other data.
There is a reason that there are multiple "no log" VPNs that have been search warranted and the only one who has managed to have them come out empty handed is Mullvad. It is difficult to do.
Exactly what online identity verification is really about.

I didn't, when that is all it was.
I was wrong. I see that now.

That's even more insidious. I wish I could be surprised.
