Unless the axe has a conductive handle, it wouldn't matter if he did. No path from the blade through his body.
As someone else said, he just couldn't deal with the axe suddenly coming free. Possibly made worse by all the drywall dust on the smooth floor under his feet.
Did he hit an electrical conduit, or did he just pass out from the physical exertion?
Looks to me like he just fell on his ass when the axe pulled free.
Might even be faked for content. You can't see where he lands, there might have been a pillow or something.
