The only thing about this that bugs me is that it's going to reward the people who engaged in the most illegal employment. The smaller operations that might have hired a dozen illegals aren't going to be able to afford the up-front cost of the automation. The big operations that employed thousands of them for even lower wages will be able to.
I suppose someone will come along and start renting the equipment to the small and medium sized ones but I still hate the ones who most prolifically used illegal labor will have the leg up in a transition to automation.

That's literally what farm COOPs are (well, that and bulk buying), and they've been around for decades.
A great example is tiling trenchers. Typical midwest farmer rents one cuz how often do you ever need it?
Join a faming COOP. Problem solved.
