It turned out they have a lot of private investment in Fox and others which partly explains that coverage, but it also tracks with the official US government position. Qatar always hosted US military bases including Centcom since that time. Tucker was part of that so maybe he's always been "ideologically captured" but he's not expressing some out of nowhere hot take here.

Why would Tucker, someone who is very critical of US foreign policy, say "Qatar is a close US ally" as something positive? If you say that North Korea is a very close ally of Iran, and you are critical of Iran as you are, does that mean that you are sucking Iranian dick?
