Apparently, they're the new Funkos.

Labubu is extremely popular and has become a global collectible sensation in 2025, driven by strong sales, social media buzz, and celebrity endorsements.

: Pop Mart, the Chinese company behind Labubu, reported a 170% year-over-year revenue increase in Q1 2025, with sales in the Americas growing ninefold. In 2024, Pop Mart’s revenue surged to $1.81 billion, with plush toys like Labubu accounting for nearly 22% of total revenue

: Labubu toys have seen a price increase of about 741%, making them attractive investments. Rare editions can resell for hundreds to thousands of dollars, with some figures fetching up to $7,000 or more

: Labubu enjoys popularity across Southeast Asia, Australia, the Americas, and beyond. In Singapore, about 40% of people spend around SGD 25 monthly on Labubu toys, illustrating strong consumer engagement

: Labubu’s rise is fueled by viral TikTok videos and celebrity fans like Rihanna and Lisa from Blackpink, which amplify its cultural status and desirability. The hashtag #labubu has over a million posts globally on TikTok, reflecting widespread enthusiasm

: The blind box format, rarity of some figures (e.g., 1:72 secret versions), and limited editions create excitement and high demand among collectors. A life-sized Labubu figure recently sold for over $150,000 at a Beijing auction, signaling its status as a valuable collectible

: Unlike many toys, Labubu has a large adult fan base, with buyers aged 18 and over driving significant market growth, especially in the US

Labubu is more than a toy; it is a cultural phenomenon and a lucrative collectible brand with rapidly growing global popularity, driven by limited editions, social media hype, celebrity endorsements, and strong market demand. Its value as an investment is rising, but collectors should be cautious of fakes and market fluctuations

The funny part about it is, absolutely none of that tells me what it IS, it's just endless justification, corpo spiel and posturing.

Bag chains with creatures that became popular online and limited drops that increase prices in the secondary market.

Popmart is shit. Their stuff lacks soul

For reference just look at most of their stuff vs rement, a Japanese brand producing similar stuff. One actually has shading

Just from a glance, I agree. The Japanese products are good looking & highly detailed. The Labubu are indeed "soulless" and generic looking.

I own several of each at least. The chinese overcompensate by making theirs bigger and easier to paint but the size also makes it look flat because their colors are generally one shade only. Meanwhile on my pokemon ones, the leaves on the tree have shaded coloring. Its just a huge difference once you see it
