I think that footage that came out a few weeks ago of the one maniac who was ranting endlessly about Jesus is proof enough. If the cop there had any confidence of letting his balls drop a centimeter, that fucker would have been on the ground the moment he lunged at him. But the cop didn't, and so that guy was able to steal his car.
Honestly, the cop just needs more proper training. He was clearly an old guy on the force they trust with basic traffic stuff, and he ended up being put in a genuine hand-to-hand fight with someone who had meth-head strength. He could have probably shot him, but these police departments want to avoid shootings where the guy is unarmed. They ended up doing it anyway. I don't really fault the officer himself, as much as the department.
No cop wants to become the next Chauvin, and no department wants another government-and-media-backed riot on their front door. They would sooner let the rabid black criminals take their guns than put them down.
I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was saying that cops are so fearful that they will not use force (deadly or otherwise) on criminals until it's too late. As in, most typically, after the criminal has seized a cop's gun from his hand (or car as was the case for DeShawn Leeth).

No, stop being reductive. There's caution due to a terror campaign, not support for them being disarmed.
