Pretty sure they removed that a long time ago. I remember I used to be able to shit talk people directly on Street Fighter 4 but then they pulled the plug on that system and you had to get someone to agree to a friend request on Steam in order to initiate trash talk, which really put a damper on that.
It wasn't removed for all titles. Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 got taken care of, but titles like Operation: Racoon City and Lost Planet 2 were in limbo so long that Capcom yanked them from the storefront.
only for the popular titles. I remember older titles being broken because GFWL remained.
That is the level of care capcom has. Once they piss it all away again, they can always rely on another megaman game to save their sorry asses like the last several times.
I'm pretty sure people, like me, purchased the games they wanted on Steam and then pirated versions which didn't add 'certified malware' onto our systems.
GTA IV wanted email addresses and all sorts of filth I don't want to give away to strangers.
Seems like modern consoles all expect the same as standard. Far too far for a simple game that can be pirated as an alternative.
Smart move by Capcom. Nothing wrong with a central server for online play, but leave it at that.
Context: GFWL=Games For Windows Live

So they finally made old games playable again without having to jump through hoops
Much appreciated!
Does this kill people's saved games?
Yes. GFWL enabled saves and co-op. If they finally move all the way to Steamworks, they'll probably have to start over.
Though, the thread does mention you can downgrade to use GFWL again and get your save back.

It's about time. It's been like 15 years since that failed to become popular. I believe Microsoft killed it in like 2012 as well
