They have no jurisdiction to enforce it on anyone outside of the UK, so their stance is irrelevant. Sovereign countries have every right to just tell the UK to go fuck themselves.
If that company isn't based in the UK, they don't have to do a damn thing. If the UK also wants to effectively ban VPNs, then it is a different issue, but still only affects the UK.
