Because we have to replenish the depleation and decline in our forces due to the grifting of the previous administration. Plus all the war toys sent to Ukraine need to be restocked.
I don't get the objection to Massie's argument. No one, including Massie, thinks we shouldn't have a military.
Are we really going to pretend that trillion dollars is being well spent? What happened to hunting down Waste Fraud and Abuse™? How much of this money is going to $500 hammers and $1500 toilet seats, and other memes?
We can have a strong military without wasting a shit ton of money. It's still going to cost a lot, but we could have a better system, spend less, and get a stronger military.
What amount really is going to be well spent? How much money do you need to spend to get a strong military?
As it is, isn't the american army at its weakest in years? A lot of weapon stockpile got sent to Ukraine and somehow the uss navy is just losing fighter jets randomly to the sea
Spending more tax dollars on education, defense, etc, does not result in more of it, or of higher quality. Imagine if America (and Britain) figured out colonialism and empire building, instead of funneling resources to the military-banker industrial complex. That opportunity is long gone, so let's do actual reform of our armed forces and defense industry. With Service Guarantees Citizenship, we'd have administrators disciplined enough to provide thorough accountability of defense budgets.
Except you can't produce education the same way you can produce arms or weapons. One's an intangible and the other isn't. It won't all be spent on weaponry but at the very least it's not a good comparison
Defense encompasses much more than armaments. Much of our arsenal isn't cost-effective, and many of our activities are counterproductive. Sometimes its blowback, but often times its an erosion of our liberties. I'm not opposed to a strong war ready military, but it needs surgically precise reform. It's not on a sustainable, nimble trajectory. Note how there was chaff that had to be cleared at the onset of WW2.

Spoken like a true Trump worshipper. Get back to patriots.win you fucking loser.
To (((whom)))?
Our military doesn't defend our interests.
