It is not a "left-wing" idea not to call children racial slurs. It is the opinion of every responsible adult. Anyone being a good parent agrees. I don't care that you think it's ridiculous for me to have a moral judgement against anyone using racial slurs towards children. This isn't a deontological argument. I'm not making an argument from first principles. It's simply always wrong to do it. It is a violation of children's innocence, done in a reckless manner to hurt them, for the sake of a selfish desire of an adult.
And you can tell me that you don't see the point in differentiating between insulting a child, and insulting a child with a racial slur, but you ought not to be insulting children. They should be disciplined. It should be avoided whenever possible, and the adult needs to control their emotional response.

Nigger means nothing, its a corruption of an old European language's word for black and barely resembles that word any longer. Its power is entirely self inflicted, and no child is born with a weakness into it in their genes. If this kid was damaged by it in an extra way, that is their parent/community/media literally breaking them in a specific way.
The child was in a public space committing a crime. That is an action that should be admonished in some way because children need to be raised. To use your very logic, having no one respond in opposition to what he is doing is creating the idea that what he is doing is acceptable and not opposed.
