- multiple meetings with Australian embassy personnel who also do nothing
- except charge the guy for the privilege of sending him money to bribe the prison and judge
- also his lawyer used part of the money to party with friends in Thailand
Imagine, if you will, that Malaysian-born Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong didn't care to save a white Australian guy stranded in southeast Asia.
This would never have happened in the old times. A guy getting abused like this would have been a stain on the dignity of all Australians.
You know that didn't work at all in South Africa, right? Or Rodesia.
It took a concerted effort by all of the “woke west” to bring those countries down
The colonies didn't go far enough. If the European nations weren't out peepeeing each other, they could have formed independent, federated colonies around lucrative sections, and evict the entire populations to some large quarantine. Readmit those natives that can pass a nonlinguistic IQ test at 85, and require lawfulness and documentation. Ideally we'd have ostracized all the socialists and proto-wokes before they maimed Western civilization.
They didn't just "not go far enough", the Commonwealth actively and deliberately destroyed Rhodesia and S.A. Sargon gives a nice rage-inducing overview of Rhodesia here.
And yeah S.A. even letting black tribes into the country in the first place was their first mistake. Even a north-south territorial split or a federal republic would have been better options than apartheid.
