Yes, but not because of the tariffs.
They want to homogenize the American economy for the purposes of control and extraction. Making Americans dependent on foreign food supply is also an added benefit.
It doesn't even need to be a scheme to make us import anything. Control of the food supply is plenty of power and worth pursuing all on its own.
They call that level of micromanagement Keynesian economics, correct?
Officially, no. But the concept gives rise to the argument that "price stability" is what is needed in order to justify government intervention.
