Now women go to university and "focus on their careers" until they realize that it is too late to have children or a family.
They have abandoned their obligations to the future and to their community in order to peruse selfish "independence" and the income and freedom that brings them. They wind up on a single income in a tiny apartment, alone or caring for an aging parent.
At 40 they will be overcome by regret and wish they were younger or fertile. It is too late.
34% of the current generation of women are virgins; because Japanese culture leads with commitment and promiscuity is utterly shameful. As a result they just go without relationships so they can escape the sacrifice of motherhood and the duties of being a partner in a marriage.
This will literally kill Japan in one more generation of this behavior. In 30 years it will be impossible to repopulate even with breeding camps and importing literal breeding slaves; which will never happen.
Yep, women in the work force in addition to contraceptives basically tanks the fertility rate of every country.
Any culture that decides women should spend their most fertile years not as a mother is destined to wither and at the very least heavily reduce in population.
Talked to some guy on p.win doing exactly that. He was saying anime destroyed the birthrate because Japanese men being anime obsessed perverts is why women don't like them and prefer White guys. I tried to explain (poorly in retrospect) it's not anime, dude, it's women.

As a reminder Japan has the lowest out of wedlock births (2%). They have roughly the same birth rate as countries like Italy and Spain (1.3), which are about 30-40% out of wedlock births.
And they'll still find a way to blame the low birthrates on hot anime girls.

That guy has the cause and effect reversed. If the men could actually approach women they wouldn't have a gooner problem.
Plus, with Japan's harsh work culture, it seems like no one has the time or energy to form relationships.
