About ten percent of boys, perhaps as much as twenty percent, are born with the genetic predisposition to be hyper-competitive.
With excellent parenting, they learn to harness that competitive drive and to excel.
Without good parenting they become frustrated and violent. They have poor impulse control, and if they develop a problem with authority or become angry and aggressive, they bounce in and out of prison until they are about 40. At that point they are either dead or they calm down.
There hasn't been a study, but I bet these guys make up a large percentage of top athletes, elite soldiers, surgeons etc. Professions that really call for a competitive drive benefit from these adaptions.
If you cull them out of the population you will lose your top soldiers etc.
That said, there is more to the behavior we are witnessing than just the Warrior Gene.
