Anyone ever read it? If so what did you think? I recommend it. Found it at a library book sale over 10 years ago and finally got around to reading it. Saw the movie as a kid and loved it but surprised at how much the movies cuts out.

Wait, the story ends???
Thanks for spoiling it!
That's false advertisement! Get Lionel Hutz on the line NOW!
Final Fantasy wasn't final?
Caught in a landslide...
The way squareenix is going it might be soon.
Worse than Stoner's Pot Palace smh.
That place was flagrant false advertising
One of his greatest jokes. RIP Hartman
I’ve been really busy at work so it took me a while to read it. It felt like a never ending story
Not really. It leaves many endings unresolved.
Must have taken him a while, I've heard the book is 10,000 pages long
Yes. It's great. The movie basically ends where the story truly begins. So it's not surprising that Michael Ende absolutely hated the movie and did not want to be associated with its production.
Wow, I didn’t know he hated it but I can’t blame him. As I was reading I was like wow the book has way more after the events of the movie
The movie covers only a third of the book. Like I already said the movie ends where the actual story only just begins. Had I been in his place I would've been pissed too when they told me they're just gonna adapt the introduction to my story.
I heard they are doing another movie but I can only imagine how they will ruin it
Can't be much worse than the sequels we already got...
Nevermind. Yes it can.
I liked the book. I thought that starting each chapter with the next sequential letter in the alphabet was clever. The movie covers the first half of the book, and the second movie picked and chose random parts of the book to feature while telling a similar but different story. I've shown my kids the movies, and will go through the book with them.
Also I wish there was an anthology of all the “stories for another time” that are mentioned
Such a good book. Made me feel like a kid again and the movie ignited a passion for reading due to the book store owners speech. What were the 3 and 4th movies about?
The place where kids lose their dreams and memories was so sad.
True
I also want to point out it was written in German for German kids. The translation kept a lot of the whimsy, but it proves that Germans can do Whimsy and child like glee.
Best thread title of the year.
