At a time when the world is down to a single drug that can reliably cure gonorrhea, the U.S. government has shuttered the country’s premier sexually transmitted diseases laboratory, leaving experts aghast and fearful about what lies ahead.
Why is there only a single drug? Is it because the “experts” fucked up so massively their own rush to “cure” retards super spreading it created a super bug? Why start off the article showcasing how massive a failure this lab is?
The STD lab at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — a leading player in global efforts to monitor for drug resistance in the bacteria that cause these diseases — was among the targets of major staff slashing at the CDC this past week. All 28 full-time employees of the lab were fired.
“We need this lab to study the effects of our failed health policies that are creating an incurable strain currently by our own admission”
A CDC white paper on antibiotic resistance released during the first Trump administration listed drug-resistant gonorrhea as one of five urgent threats facing the country. Antimicrobial resistance to that last drug that reliably works to cure gonorrhea, ceftriaxone, is rare but on the rise globally.
And what has been done about it again? Funny that
“The loss of this lab is a huge deal to the American people,” said David C. Harvey, executive director of the National Coalition of STD Directors, which represents state, city, and U.S. territorial STD prevention programs across the country. “Without that lab, we would have not been able to appropriately diagnose and monitor drug-resistant gonorrhea.”
What part of “std prevention” is working when std rates are skyrocketing globally? How does this person have a job when by his own argument he’s a failure at it?

There is a lot of truth to their "resistant to everything gonorrhea" narrative despite the anti-Kennedy slant to the article (written by some old insufferable AWFL).
There really haven't been any major new antibiotics that have come to market for widespread outpatient use since the 70s (which is around when the last drug they talked about in the article, cerftriaxone, was developed).
There were constant warnings about this decades ago, long before Clown World.
I've never heard a satisfying explanation for why there is such a paucity of antibiotic drug development despite the obvious need besides the trite "It's not very profitable to develop a new medicine that cures the patient in 3-10 days rather than a cholesterol or blood pressure pill they must take daily until they die".
AFAIK, there's finally some new drugs coming to market to treat other things like bladder infections and such. But as I understand it, the FDA has already fucked up the certification, allowing the new drug to be used by every garden variety hoe rather than preserving them for the worst-of-the-worst scenarios.

I'm supposed to believe a scant 28 people were the dividing force between STDs killing everyone and now?
This is obviously just a random research building siphoning money for minimal return on the investment.

They're too busy pushing aids drugs so gays can have bathhouse buttsex as much as they want. Nobody is actually working on new antibiotics.
