If the Amish kids had increased morbidity and mortality in significant numbers, we wouldn't hear the end of it as an argument for vaccination.
Instead it's silence or supression of the fact their rates of neurological disorders ( including autism ) is a small fraction of the general population's rate of neurological disorders.
Even just not living within city limits probably helps. I'm convinced that homeless people are made significantly more crazy just by having to live exposed directly to urban environments. The human psyche was not made to have prolonged contact with the Walmart parking lot.
