when this whole thing started the media outlets weren't calling Yasuke "a black samurai" they were actually calling Yasuke "the first black samurai" as if they were planning on pushing MORE black samurai in the future. Too bad for them, they couldn't get the general public to even accept one black samurai.

You misunderstand. If anything, they're implying that there have been numerous black samurais that came after the Legendary Black Samurai Yasuke™.
Which is actually even worse. It's not that there will be black samurai, it's that there have totally already been a bunch. Most samurai are black, actually! The Japanese are black! Bigot! REEEEE.
That's what I meant though that they were planning on making up more fake black samurai in Japanese history
No, all samurai are black...

the imaginings of jesuits are not real.
Perhaps you've never heard of Ghost Dog?
Such an awesome movie.
I'd sooner believe there were actual mutated turtle ninjas who lived into their teens.
It's a general Buzzfeed marketing obsession with 'First ever <insert DEI category>' of left-liberal progressives. They always want to have the feeling that they're 'pioneering' something. NASA, for example, wanted to explicitly have a mission with the first woman and 'person of color' to explore the moon.
They also tried this spiel with Star Trek: Disco. Ignoring both Janeway and Sisko, rofl. It's a form of historical falsification in order to score virtue points.
Absolutely pay attention to things like this, they have a weaselly insidious undercurrent to their language that always betrays their ulterior motives.
THERE IS ONLY ONE AFRO SAMURAI!

There were tons of black samurai. In fact, I don't even think Yasuke was the first. Black Twitter keeps posting totally-not-AI photos informing me so.
Why not a Hokkaido samurai? They're a racial minority, and the Japanese historically treated them differently because of it.
Oh wait, Hokkaidans look half-white, that's why they couldn't go with it.
Sho nuff is the one true black samurai!
There is precisely one black samurai and he is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.
