Since people aren't forming relationships these days, they've convinced themselves that the problem is too many attractive women in media ruining men's standards, and not that corporations are invading every single segment of our lives so nothing can develop organically anymore (an environment directly hostile to romance).
They hired her because of what she is, but to quote the infamous Hillary Clinton, "You can't keep snakes in your backyard and expect them only to bite your neighbors. You know, eventually those snakes are going to turn on whoever has them in the backyard."
She didn't write the god-awful script. Between it's feminist and socialist rewrites, uncanny CGI and race-swapped cast, the movie would have been roasted regardless. Now Disney is trying to wipe their ass with her for being exactly what they wanted their stars to be circa 2020.
"Rachel betrayed the studio," LOL. It's fun watching Disney get devoured by a monster of their own making!
I think she alone holds all of the blame for why this movie is doing so badly that even the normal defenders can't fully deny it, while Little Mermaid, while controversial pre-release, was able to come out and quietly disappear with a razor thin profit.
If she had shut the fuck up from the beginning, the movie would have made $700M just from unwitting people going to see it and it would have at least been mildly profitable and another (small) medal Disney could pin to its own chest. Moviegoers would still think it sucked, but at least they'd have been duped into seeing it ONCE in theaters. But running her mouth turned people away from even wandering into a theater so it's DOA. She single handedly tanked the movie. Impressive actually.
Exactly. The best example of this is Aladdin. Another unnecessary live action remake from Disney that nobody really cared about and no one cares to really remember either.
But it kept its mouth shut all around, didn't get pissy about the Will Smith memes, and raked in a solid billion dollars from people. Granted, having been forced to see it, that was a decent movie on its own without much politics, though nothing special enough to care about, while Snow White here seems to fail to even be that and constantly forces Woke politics upon you.
They're trying to pin it all on her, but she didnt hire herself, and on her own she'd have been 100% incapable of producing a multi-hundred million dollar film. So.....
Exactly. The issues started when it leaked there wouldn't be any dwarfs, then images leaked of the new "dwarfs", then reshoots, and then Rachel started talking about Trump and Palestine. By then the damage to the movie's reputation had been long done.
