I've played WoW for 20 years and everything that has happened to them is just as easily assigned to the retarded that worked there as it is to Bobby. Metzen becoming a male feminist wasn't Bobby, Danuser's existence wasn't Bobby, and Ghostcrawler was gleeful to ruin the game for people all on his own for years and his legacy is still felt as the standard they nerf by and I doubt Bobby knows enough to even care about that. The cash shop stuff is obviously coming from Bobby's side, but Blizzard was well on its way to falling apart on its own.
Also the first two Diablos were made by Blizzard North, a company that was shut down a few years before Activision got involved with most of the big names not joining the main company in Cali afterwards.
Again, I can believe Bobby is just that awful. But I can also believe that all the memes and stories we know about him are constructed hit pieces by games journos which we know regularly do that to people we know are lies. I'm not willing to just believe things as fact anymore without more direct evidence beyond game journo articles, which is where most of the facts we know about him come from, old articles repeated until they were common knowledge.
Also, random fact. Bobby was hesitant about the merger, but was convinced when Mike Morhaime (president of Blizzard for a long time) showed him their plan to break into the Chinese market and the huge amount of money that would bring. They literally showed him they could be his good little paypigs to get him to own their company, which I think shows that transformation was inevitable from within.
Video game publishers have been pathologically greedy assholes for at least 20 years, yet they still managed to make a lot of great games in that span. The real problem in game dev is the proliferation of DEI hires siphoning off funding and leftist activists forcing unpopular ideologies. A lot of the sudden push to raise prices and insert MTX is probably a direct response to the loss of profits due to DEI and woke. Sorta like how the industry clearly trimmed a ton of DEI fat last year, but all the media coverage framed the layoffs as “muh capitalism”.

Its always worth noting on the topic of Bobby that he bought a literal bankrupt company in Activision and decided that he was going to make it a juggernaut through sheer force of business acumen and will.
And they made dozens of people's favorite childhood games for nearly two decades before he became the most hated man in the industry.
Ironically, I think they and he became a victim of "suffering from success." CoD MW1 made way too much fucking money and happened at the time that online gaming and esports were a new untapped market bursting with money. So he saw the dollars signs and pushed everything to that direction to the detriment of everything else, and then found new ways to milk it even more. Which of course coincided heavily with the rise of DEI and more free money from all the various NGOs pushing it.
That doesn't absolve him of being a greedy little rat fucker, but from a pure business sense his actions don't seem "evil for the sake of evil" like portrayals like to say he is. Plenty of companies like Rockstar fell for the same trap and don't get half the named focus.
Their big Chinese push happened during late Wrath before they went hard on the Woke side, and they already were making new original models just for the Chinese version anyway. Early Cata had the famous "watch your mouth, bitch" line that Blizzard wouldn't be caught dead saying just a few years later.
I think you can see the switch flip around the time Metzen pointed out his daughter asking about characters "in bikinis" so he had to cover females up more. I can't remember when that was, but I think it was around MoP. And they've been on that since.
