Canada's J6 except the human rights of every citizen across the country was suspended over this.
Justin's alleged dad, PM Pierre Trudeau, also invoked the War Measures Act... over an RCMP sting operation that went awry and killed someone. They arrested hundreds of people in BC over an "act of terrorism" in QC...
There was no breaching of the Parliament buildings, no trespassing on federal property, no assaults on any law enforcement.
Their main crimes were unauthorized parking on a few municipal streets for 3 weeks. And that some sympathetic but unaffiliated protests shut down some border crossings.
It was also actually more close to overthrowing the government. Trudeau fled Canada as far as anyone can tell, and the other protestors closed a major bridge leading into the US.
They closed one border bridge, there were 3 more within (iirc) 6 miles open to cross.
In Alberta they closed 1 border crossing?
The bridge was re-opened a day or 2 before the War Measures Act was dropped.
Parliament was supposed to vote on it within a specific time, but they did not, thus it was illegal. Trudeau said they didn't need to because he would end it pretty soon anyhow. And the Media backed him.
