Avowed surpassed 150,000 copies as naysayers gave up smear campaign. :: Avowed Avowed Gameplay Discussion
Avowed has sold over 150,000 copies on Steam platform. Long-time industry experts explain the huge boost in playerbase came from the initial naysayers after having a blast with Avowed via Xbox Game Pass.
By comparison Veilguard, which was an admitted massive flop, sold 300k in the first 3 days. Avowed's low end budget was 70 million for development minus marketing with some estimates at over 100 million which is still about 1/3 of Dragon Age to be fair but by all markers this game will have to sell over a million copies at full cost (realistically 2-3 million) to break even.
Looks like everyone's pulling a Barve this year.
they have to try to convince investors not to sue.
I'm sure investors will just trust them as the entire market collapses this year.
GTA VI looks like the only potential redeemer and even at that the market is getting antsy with devs screwing around.
they'll spin it however they can. question is whether even the DEI investors will wanna sink money into another pit like this at this point, especially with the USAID gravy train derailing...
Do they have investors on this one? I thought it is fully financed by Microsoft and losing 50mil it's a drop in a bucket for them.
yeah, but micosoft is publicly traded, and those investors could potentially sue for poor management or something, i'd imagine, especially if we're looking at multiple flops in the same year or fromt he same studio.
Leftists are trying to salvage something good from the concord disaster by using it as a new baseline for success. Now any woke game with more than 20k sales and 10k ccu on steam is “doing well” (regardless of budget).
Honestly, I’ve never seen the media go to bat this hard for such an obvious underperformer.
I wonder how much of this is the media desperate for a win or microsoft money trying to influence people in believing the game is popular.
Worst part, they had a half decent marketing campaign going on top of the production costs. 150k copies sold is not bad it's abysmal for a game that took 5 years to make. From what I see people are saying the budget is somewhere between 70mil and 140 mil. 150000*70=10,500,000, I assume Steam gets 20% of that and it means the game sold about 8.4 million on a 70milion game at best, this not including marketing - they had billboards up with this game. The game has almost no good reviews and the word of mouth is bad. No way this game will sell 1.5 mil copies that it needs to actually make even in the best yet highly unlikely scenario - not including marketing.
This game lost money and lost money hard. Leftists gaslighting that this is somehow a success is on par with believing that men can become women.
Now for the bad part, this is Microsoft. For all intended purposes it has infinite money and it's more then ok with wasting money to change gaming.
This is a commercial success
So, they played it on Gamepass, liked it, bought it on Steam but didn't actually play it on Steam (given the maximum concurrent player count barely broke 19k)? Seems weird to me.
Avowed Vs Oblivion, a 19 years old game.
And vs Skyrim, 14 years ago.
Featuring right-leaning semi-normie balding man comentary.
I knew this was going to suck as soon as they announced they were going to work on something different.
Man this game's art direction is so bizzare, not only 99% of the character models are ugly as sin but on top of that the obnoxiously protuding fungal infection on the characters and backdrop is disgusting to look at.
