If the deal is that we gave up personal self-defense, then we shouldn't have to increase military spending, particularly not at anyone's bidding.
If we do, however, then we should consider stop being an occupied continent and bending to every whim of the overlord.
Either would be fine with me, but not the worst of both worlds, where I get taxed to fund the deep state's imperial ambitions.
