I don't know about "popular" but it seems highly unlikely that we'll get in a naval war with China any time soon.
I dont think it will be hot, but I do absolutely foresee more ships operating around them, helping out the likes of Vietnam, The Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan (all of whom have been wanting to get closer alliances with the US and investing in more modern systems). Plus Australia has been upgrading their navy and air force to help with the deterrence.
Considering how powerful our Navy is. China would be retarded as fuck to touch our boats. Every time a country touched our boats they paid for it.
And even sometimes when they didn't. Remember the Maine.
Just ask:
Barbary pirates in the 19th century
Japan seeing the sun twice
And ironically Iran during operation praying mantis
It's NEVER a good idea to touch America's boats.
We didn't do so hot trying to open shipping through the Suez Canal back up.
