For those who aren't aware: Miriam Adelson is the new owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, having bought Mark Cuban's majority share in June of last year. However, she was unable to take the seat of 'govenor' (essentially the person who represents team leadership at league meetings and CBA negotiations between owners and players, which is usually just the owner of the team), mostly because of virulent hatred of Palestine, as she is very proud to be a member of the Triple Parentheses Gang, and openly wants the West Bank to be annexed. She is also one of, if not the largest donor to Trump, having donated over $100 million to his campaign for 2024. Her money comes from her second marriage, being married to fellow member of the TGG, Sheldon Adelson, founder of Las Vegas Sands, a corporation that formerly owned several resorts and casinos in Vegas, and still owns multiple resorts and casinos in South East Asia.
The reason my sports fandom made me aware of her is because at midnight EST, a trade was finalized that sent Slovenian star player, Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for what is essentially pennies on the dollar.
The trade itself isn't the point, although the trade itself is absurd, but what I learned about Miriam and her family is that apparently most of why they purchased the Dallas Mavericks is because they're trying to push legalization of gambling in Texas, which isn't illegal through a law, but through the state's constitution itself. The alleged main reason for this is because the lease for the American Airlines Center (the arena the Mavericks play in) is up in 2030, and the ownership wants to build a new arena attached to a casino. I'm curious about what Texans think about gambling and whether it should be made legal in the state, but what also surprised me as I was reading more and more about her is that she donates so much to the GOP instead of the Democrats, but owning casinos probably makes that make more sense.
What a lot of people are saying because the value of the trade itself is so absurd, is that the ownership of the Mavericks is trying to tank the fan attendance in order to justify moving to Las Vegas if trying to legalize gambling in Texas falls through, which makes sense but is utterly absurd. I'll keep it here because I'll answer more of the sport questions in the comments, but Miriam Adelson is someone to watch out for, as she has the ear of Trump and the money and influence to back it up.
(((Adelson))) also wants to rename a book of the Bible after Trump.
Anyways this is typical behavior of their tribe, as gambling, insurance, drugs, loans, and porn are always pushed by them.
I'm sorry, what?
It's real.
Even to suggest he might be a ‘doctor of the prot churches’ of sorts, if indirectly. Even that is bold to say. This is wild, and I suspect it comes from her utter disrespect for the Bible.
Not a good sign.
I think that sounds crazy, but it’s still categorically less crazy than renaming a book of the Bible, which was the original, incorrect, claim.
Yep. Miriam Adelson's husband before he died was widely seen as one of the jewish "king makers" who chose who would rise and fall in the upper echelon of jewish controlled society. Trump has been owned by the Rothschild Banking Cartel since they bailed him out of debt in the mid 90's... after which he was also rewarded with a Hollywood tv show and then later the presidency, during which Miriam Adelson donated big money for Trump's campaign including $100 million in the last election specifically so he would support the Gaza genocide (holocaust of Palestinian people). It's also why Trump has now signed an executive order trying to deport people for antisemitism which is a flagrant fuck you to the first amendment and it's important to note that criminalization of antisemitism was also the first step toward the Holodomor Holocaust in Russia in which over 60 million white christians were genocided out of existence by Bolshevik Jews.
The future is dark for America.
I’m not an NBA guy but I like to keep up with the drama due to how funny the fans are. When I saw the news that last night that theory was one that I also read in a comments section. The more I hear it the more I believe it, Vegas has been a prime target of all sports leagues, but I just assumed they would expand to 32 teams and put one of them in Vegas, but intentionally destroying a team and it’s fandom to give them an excuse to move to Vegas and build their casino complex attached to the stadium will probably be cheaper and easier than starting from scratch (plus it gives the NBAs biggest brand a 25 year old super star, which I’m sure Adam Silver won’t mind).
Yeah, this is really confusing. The rumor for ages was that the expansion was going to give Seattle the Sonics back (the only reason the Sonics moved and became the Thunder is because the owner at the time, Clay Bennett, was from OKC and was lying to Seattle about staying) and expanding to Vegas. Dallas is a top 10 market by population and economy, so I'm genuinely curious what the fuck the thinking is for trading Luka, unless it's to do what John Fisher did with the Oakland A's.
I’m assuming an expansion is Seattle and Dallas, but I have heard that Vancouver is another option (don’t know why).
The Memphis Grizzlies were originally the Vancouver Grizzlies and moved because of owner bullshit, it’s one of the largest markets in Canada
Never sell your Sportsball Team to a woman!
That said, the push in Texas for Casinos is ramping up. Commercials every day.
I thought Miriam Adelson was more of a flash-in-the-pan supporter of Trump, but according to Wikipedia, her since deceased husband Sheldon Adelson was Trump's largest backer in 2016 with a 65 million dollar donation.
Wikipedia also claims that the couple has donated over 500 million dollars to Republican campaigns.
Apparently her son-in-law Patrick Dumont, married to her daughter from her 1st marriage, is sitting on the board of governors for the NBA.
One of her two sons from her second marriage to Sheldon Adelson also bought a pro basketball team in Israel in 2023.
The Lakers traded Anthony Davis and he's a max contract guy, not a pennies guy.
By pennies, I'm referring to the fact that the Lakers didn't have to trade all their picks + Reaves and/or Knecht + more for it as well
Doncic is also about to be eligible for a max contract. So he might have been gone soon anyways. My point being there are legitimate reasons for the trade.
No, there aren’t. He was eligible for a super max with Dallas only. He was 100% going to resign. There was no reason for the mavs not to hold an auction.
Yes but the Dallas GM said something to the effect that contract negotiations would be awkward with Luka.
Their GM, Nico Harrison held a press conference before their game today, and apparently Luka's out of shape and a bit of a dickhead. Still doesn't mean you don't try to fleece the living hell out of the Lakers.
Nico Harrison is however the same former Nike employee who mispronounced Steph Curry's name, reused the same presentation he used with Kevin Durant, and turned Curry off of Nike to where Curry is now an Under Armour athlete. Generational fumble, but good shit to the Lakers for not letting Harrison get more from them
Luka is injured so he probably is out of shape for an athlete.
Don’t follow basketball like I used to but I live in DFW and want Mavs to do well. I heard about the trade. Didn’t know about “the governor”. I thought the new ownership was trying to bring a casino here. Definitely didn’t hear that is the long term plan. Yikes!
There's a reason even the CCP considers gambling to be one of the three "major evils" for corrupting a society.
Every casino from New Mexico, to Oklahoma, to Louisiana is filled with Texas plates. Open it up and keep that money in Texas. Do t like the idea of big cities getting the casinos, think they would be better suited to make other areas a destination. San Angelo? Tyler? Corpus?
