He's pulling a line that the Left has been arguing for a long time. Because immigration is a federal issue, there is never any justification to assist the federal government in policing the borders of the United States, detaining illegal immigrants, or even co-operating with federal law enforcement regarding immigration law.

However, they will argue they have a moral responsibility to defend, aid, fund the legal defense of, and provide welfare to, all criminal illegal migrants within their jurisdiction.

You will notice that this is a stance they never take regarding gun laws or gun charges. In which case, they would be happy to detain you indefinitely on the suspicion of federal gun crimes, and will assist in any way they can on that topic, including enforcing Red Flag laws as needed.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Chief Wiggum said “it’s not my job to talk people out of killing themselves”. Unfortunately in the case of this moronic mayor it’s no laughing matter

Brandon Johnson is quite possibly the very worst mayor in America, perhaps the world.

Chicago has been crap for a long time. But previous mayors like Rahm Emanuel at least made a show of trying to make it slightly less bad.
