I used to think Mackie was better than most Hollywood (like when he admitted he's not a movie star, the character is what's popular) lot but it seems the Kool-Aid has finally stained in.
He's not, he's shit at acting regardless of anything else and that should be the baseline measurement. Altered Carbon season 2 might have been a narrative shitshow when trying to combine books 2 and 3 together but changing from Rick Flagg to Sam Wilson was its own massive problem for the show. Ironically the best thing throughout was Poe who wasn't even in the books, they just weren't allowed to use the book version which was Hendrix because his estate said no. More the fool them maybe since Poe was so well enjoyed, but then maybe even if it had been Hendrix it wouldn't have worked as well.
He has had close to a decade now of Marvel execs in his ear hyping him up as the next big thing and one of the faces of their new MCU.
I think most people would fall to that poison even if they were once better than it.
