Both Nagasaki and Hiroshima are thriving metropolises today, and they were entirely leveled in an era when basically every home was built with wood and paper. I don't recall any history lesson where America funded and organized the rebuilding of those cities in spite of the Japanese, so I must conclude that they rebuilt all their own homes themselves.
I do, however, recall the billions of dollars sent to Haiti to try to rebuild it after a seasonal hurricane, and it all looks as shitty as it ever did, and it's been that way since the French were forced to leave after being massacred by the locals. Basically none of the country is visible in Google Maps because it's so not worthwhile to map it due to how horrible of a place it is to be. India is better mapped, and everyone knows what that place looks like thanks to the 'Pindia' game taking off for a little bit.

Just to be clear : the Haitians did not let the White French leave. They did not want a single one to leave. They wanted to kill every last child, woman and elderly White person. A genocide targetting White people is the foundation of Haïti.
