Some people were also trying to claim it wasn't degenerate, because you were given the option to not engage in that behavior. By their reasoning, the world we're living in isn't degenerate, because we can (currently, somewhat) refuse to participate. I never got a response to that.
Some people just have no control over their impulses and habits, and are clearly addicted. They'll make all manner of excuses to justify their addictions, and if you try to take it away or shame them, they lash out at you. It's sad. I hope those people realize what they're doing and can take control of their lives.
