Every male in FW is either stupid, cowardly, useless, or sinister. They are often counterparted by women who are aggressive know-it-alls who happen to have the perfect solutions to whatever problems they're afraid to fix. The antagonists in the game are rich, mostly white elites who show up to steal the last of the technology that can fix the broken world the tribes are dealing with.
The game would have been fine if they could have left the writing to people with sense, but the constant feminism and color injections feel awkwardly forced and unnatural.
On the accidentally based side, the main antagonist is a manipulative, abusive lesbian groomer. Which is probably why they made Aloy a lesbian in the DLC; the devs realized they may have depicted some uncomfortable truths and had to course-correct fast.
It's probably a combination of Sony, the developers being too virtue singally online and the obvious downgrade in character design from the first game.
Heard the game itself was OK but a bit grindy, which I don't mind grind but not for something that's just ok.
Yeah aloy in the second game was kinda a b, but I played for the gameplay. And I honestly don’t think the game was very Grindy at all actually. You could do no grind and beat the game with good armor and good weapons just from main quests.
I don't think I've heard people really say anything about the game portion. I've heard its rather good overall actually, with the biggest problem being not enough robos to climb.
Its the character designs, writing, and general politics around it that people hated. Its fandom was quite insufferable in trying to push it as some "proof" of women and progressive writing succeeding, and Sony themselves forced it on everyone because somebody there loved it.
So if its as good as you say it is as a game, which I've not heard anything to the contrary, then its a giant example of "shit packaging and presentation ruining a good tasting meal."
It's kinda stuck in the trend of tiny girl with some kind of bow and arrow trend. And given the game is full of matriarch societys, and the women are portrayed as morally superior, it's easy to see what some didn't like.
HZD was generic ubisoft slop that happened to have enemies that were fun to fight. FW hardly expanded on what made the first game good, and made the main chick ugly. I'm sure it's fun, but I have no motivation to play it.
They can be your favorites, but...they aren't that good objectively speaking.
The writing is very clunky at times, and a lot of the game relies on Eloy being in the right spot at the right time and magically getting permission for things or gaining knowledge despite being an outsider/not popular/etc etc.
Animation wise, it's...fine? I'm not super mad about most of it, it's okay for console level stuff. There's some weird ugly animations though, especially when there's falling damage or some cutscenes with other people that just look bad.
Plot wise, I actually think this is one of the best things it had potential for. The idea is really cool, at least for ZD. FW is not nearly as good most of the time, and as the game goes on gets worse and worse. I love the idea the games present as a base, even though it's been done before (to various extents across various media). The idea of fighting machines you don't understand isn't nothing new, but I like the idea of them being animal shaped and society working around it. The execution is very much typical leftist men bad, women good, capitalism bad, etc etc which is where it sucks. Also you being a clone of the original whoever is...uh...that's really damn lucky that it didn't fail, or screw up by more than 1%. It also isn't really mentioned when this came up (iirc, it's been a while), so like...did this just happen because the plot needed it?
Mechanically, the game has way too much going on for actually accomplishing nothing. You end up with 30 bows that really should have been maybe 6 at most. Same with the spear launcher, sling bomb launcher thing, etc.
Character wise, ranges from okay to mediocre for why they do things, etc. I'm just generally not impressed but not disappointed either. Par for the course these days.
Game difficulty wise, it ranges from easy to "wtf this isn't balanced, it's just one shot o'clock because they have huge health pools and you do no damage while they do a million". Awful overall. Normal difficulty is reasonable though, and even game journos should be able to complete it.
Environment design is pretty good overall, though there's some things that don't make much sense (why do you still have working light up watches thousands of years from now after the earth has been wiped out twice as loot?). I like most of it, this is also where I think the games did pretty well.

That’s fair

The story is quite nice imo, but yes the characters and their design except a few kinda suck
The story sucks. You have bad taste.
No, I just don’t have your taste.

I have to disagree with you about fw. And I don’t think they made aloy ugly.
Because you have bad taste.
