They can be your favorites, but...they aren't that good objectively speaking.
The writing is very clunky at times, and a lot of the game relies on Eloy being in the right spot at the right time and magically getting permission for things or gaining knowledge despite being an outsider/not popular/etc etc.
Animation wise, it's...fine? I'm not super mad about most of it, it's okay for console level stuff. There's some weird ugly animations though, especially when there's falling damage or some cutscenes with other people that just look bad.
Plot wise, I actually think this is one of the best things it had potential for. The idea is really cool, at least for ZD. FW is not nearly as good most of the time, and as the game goes on gets worse and worse. I love the idea the games present as a base, even though it's been done before (to various extents across various media). The idea of fighting machines you don't understand isn't nothing new, but I like the idea of them being animal shaped and society working around it. The execution is very much typical leftist men bad, women good, capitalism bad, etc etc which is where it sucks. Also you being a clone of the original whoever is...uh...that's really damn lucky that it didn't fail, or screw up by more than 1%. It also isn't really mentioned when this came up (iirc, it's been a while), so like...did this just happen because the plot needed it?
Mechanically, the game has way too much going on for actually accomplishing nothing. You end up with 30 bows that really should have been maybe 6 at most. Same with the spear launcher, sling bomb launcher thing, etc.
Character wise, ranges from okay to mediocre for why they do things, etc. I'm just generally not impressed but not disappointed either. Par for the course these days.
Game difficulty wise, it ranges from easy to "wtf this isn't balanced, it's just one shot o'clock because they have huge health pools and you do no damage while they do a million". Awful overall. Normal difficulty is reasonable though, and even game journos should be able to complete it.
Environment design is pretty good overall, though there's some things that don't make much sense (why do you still have working light up watches thousands of years from now after the earth has been wiped out twice as loot?). I like most of it, this is also where I think the games did pretty well.
