Someone help me understand if I'm struggling with basic math, or it's just Shitlib math: what does a million dollar loan that is "fully forgivable" up to $20k mean? Pay back $980k and you can skip the last $20k, or pay at least $20k back and they'll cover the rest? This sounds like '$200/mo car payments for 225 months' levels of finance.
It means that the feds are going to "forgive" as much as $20k of the loan amount, usually based on strings they will attach. Of course for these, the only string will probably be "is black." Because they say "full forgivable" we can assume the loan amounts won't exceed $20k. So read it as "loans up to $20k they will never need to pay back, unless they break the terms, which they probably will and then complain about being tricked."
A more typical (but still government overreach example) is something like "we'll give you this home loan and if you're a first time buyer, have the house as a primary residence, and stay there for at least X years, we'll forgive some of it." They'll do stuff like that when they're trying to keep a region on life support by encouraging people to move in.
It will be scammed as hard as the COVID-era PPP loans were. But now if you point out a scammer, they'll call you racist.
It's not really clear from this one sentence what she proposes, but I promise it is intended to be read as "free 20 grand." You'd have to be dumb to think the government is gonna help you, so it's not targeting the kind of savvy people who actually manage to bilk the government.
Doesn't matter. Same thing will happen that always happens. "Black men, did you know there's a government program that will just give you $10k with no strings attached? Sign here!*"
* We'll set up a shell corp in your name, take a $10k fee and give you the rest. If by some fluke they do crack down on fraud, you'll be left holding the bag, we're just innocent hired help who carried out your requests in good faith.
