Because men can be thrown into the wilderness and manage to survive. In fact, that's what most of our hunter-gatherer ancestors did when the boys became of age and the tribe got too crowded.
I know what you're trying to say but that is definitely not the case for most men. The average man will survive significantly longer in the wilderness than the average woman but in our current times the average man is not capable of going inna woods and surviving for a long period of time. Surviving the wilderness is significantly more difficult than many people believe. If you don't learn the necessary skills beforehand you most likely will not survive.
The reason why men are better at dealing with being ostracized is because of 1) men are less emotional than women and 2) the way society treats men. Society still has the same demands of men and treats them accordingly while it dropped its demand of women but holds them in an even higher regard than before. Our societal structure is completely out of balance.
