The guy's post may seem like a parody, but I believe he's a libertarian - so he might well unironically say this.
Also such disgraceful discrimination about those of us civilized people who do not have ancestors in barbaric hellholes like Ireland, Italy and Israel.

As something of a libertarian myself...man, I wish libertarians weren't retarded.
But yeah, it is weird. His top posts (I still haven't bothered to sign in to Twitter/X, so that's how it sorts) are all very antiestablishment, "covid skepticism."
And he even defended Alex Jones.
Did the jury know that Alex Jones didn’t kill the kids?
So this is a really weird take from someone who, at a glance, seems dissident and sane. Like you said, maybe one of the especially retarded "open borders libertarians" or something.
Don't get me started on those fucks. They're gigaautists who haven't bothered to even think things through. One of the core tenets of libertarianism is the concept of private property. You can easily scale that up to a state or nation...and then open borders quickly becomes one of the most anti-libertarian stances you can hold. So these people are just utopians so wrapped up in their "identity/community" of libertarianism they don't bother to question anything. Basically...leftists that like the idea of freedom, but don't quite understand it.
Defending Alex Jones AND open borders is not exactly unusual for a lolbertarian.
Unfortunately, a lot of them have the idea of "open borders would not be a problem if it weren't for the welfare state". And then they put the cart before the horse by advocating for it now.
Even if there were no welfare state, I don't want that. The job of my government is to protect my interests, even though all it does is harm them, not import foreigners for their benefit and that of holders of capital.

Yup, America First (or [Country] First) means just that; putting your own people first.
Even if we got rid all the perverse incentives, we're still not obligated to take in any foreigners if we don't want to. Even if they weren't cat-eating savages.
I don't get open border libertarians. I thought one of the most basic tenets of libertarianism was the establishment of private property, how you going to have that with no borders
Spoiler: They're leftists. Any "open border libertarian" is, without fault, going to care more about leftist causes like "diversity" and "tolerance" (in the lefty sense) than they do about liberty and freedom.
Putting aside the subversion of the libertarian movement, this sort of libertarian is at least moderately better than a standard leftist, since they at least think they care about freedom...but don't get the wrong idea; these are still leftist ideologs.
It's the Libertarians+chamber of commerce+Koch Bros business alliance. The idea that any human should be free to move wherever they want... and a businessman should be free to hire whomever he wants, even for slave wages. Ignore all negative consequences.
I imagine they think you'd have borders between your land and your neighbor's land but no government borders because there would be barely any government, if at all. They think that the planet can just be a bunch of homesteads and everyone will play nice.
Libertarianism only "works" when there's a frontier and every conflict can be resolved by one party being forced to move along.
In theory, you can. It would mean that someone from Senegal can buy up the house next to yours and go live there. It's not exactly a violation of private property rights. I guess they'd probably even say that NOT having open borders is a violation of property rights, because American citizens would have greater right to enjoy their private property than those who are not.
Open border libertarians are short-sighted individuals who do not understand the need for preemptive defence. The first requirement of a libertarian state is that it is able to defend its libertarianism - if China can skip the One Child Policy by sending all their surplus population to the United States, you'll soon find you've been outvoted and are now a Chinese vassal state.
I wish for Bryan Caplan to live in Haiti for a year with no resources.
(For those that don't know, Bryan Caplan is a big proponent of the entire idea of 'unlimited immigration while abolishing the welfare state'. I'm not sure if he's the first to come up with it, but...)
Libertarianism is one of those things a lot of fools newly discovering how shit the major parties are cling onto - without actually understanding the logic behind it. Carving out individual pieces of it to implement without consideration to how they are all meant to work together is common with that crowd, like their idea of "left libertarian".
