Interestingly enough, George Bush Senior was nearly nearly shot-down in WW2. Many of his squamates were shot down, and many of them were eaten.

He was shot down flying a TBF Avenger torpedo bomber and rescued by a submarine. The two other crew members on his plane were killed.
