Considering the homie up there immediately went to the "why are you defending sexualizing children" you can see this exact slippery slope excuse play out in real time in this very comment thread.
Because that's how it always goes. First they pass "common sense" parts because nobody likes pedos enough to risk defending them, then the bar for pedo gets lower and lower until any woman under 35 without sagged tits from 3 babies is "pedo shit."
Correct. I've even seen people claim that the main character from Stellar Blade "looks like a child".
Which is how the argument against anime in general always goes. They always "look like children" based on "I know it when I see it" criteria, which means that all of it must be CP and banned.
Same way that all anime is "sexualization." Dumb shit shows like Ichigo Mashimaro are just dumb shows about girls doing funny things, no different than something like Craig of the Creek or various other cartoons. But because its anime is inherently sexual.
And these two things cycle into the true cause, that all anime must be banned.
Which is why I always stand against censorship and why I'm so adamant about it. It's the difference between being principled and being a coward who flees because someone might call them names.
I do. I also stand against shooting children with a gun, but I'm not rushing to ban guns either or even put a law into place trying to restrict them to accomplish such a task.
Its also not Strawman Bullshit when we already have seen things like Australia banning A-cups from appearing to stop pedos. Same with the aforementioned Uzaki manga where an adult college women was protested because she was too short to be an adult.
So is molesting, raping or filming children pornographically. Because there is a direct victim, the same way owning a gun is different than murdering someone despite that fact that it might lead to the other one.
I notice you skipped the example of a real world law being passed based based on what you called a "strawman" because you know it proves me 100% right about the abuse and slippery slope this brings.
Its only controversial because the way people want to shut it down opens it to massive overreach and almost no actual protection for the children you claim to care so much about. If you proposed bullying them, shaming them into not showing their face, and possibly killing themselves you'd get a lot more people on your side than crying to Daddy Government to do it.
Are Classical and Renaissance statues and paintings of nude children CP?
I know this sounds like an obvious "no," but there isn't a simple, non-arbitrary criteria for differentiating between loli/shota hentai and legitimate art, for the same reason that there's no simple and non-arbitrary criteria for differentiating between art and porn.
Yes, you can certainly describe what you regard as the relevant differences between porn and art, but there's never gonna be anything even approaching objectivity in that discourse, and policy-making is something you have to be a total autist about or else nefarious actors will take advantage of ambiguity to abuse the rules to their advantage.
