How can you have "Asian elves" in a universe that has no continent of Asia?
Going to throw in some "South American elves" too then?
This is why they have removed the concept of race from dnd almost entirely. They are trying to rewrite both history and science in order to claim that racial categories are 100% social constructions and not loose (but very real) expressions of collections of genetic traits. We can identify race by bone structures. Unlike the climate change hoax, race is settled science.
Race is, in fact, such settled science that any manufacturer of new medication is required by law to test them on a whole bunch of different ages, races, and both men & women due to how incredibly varied the reaction to the medicine can be. Organ transplants are another 'race is real' subject. Neither of these are even that complex, yet here we are.
Haven’t they crapped on Gygax as well?
Gary and his son Ernie Jr. as well.
Absurd
Yeah to them it's just about different appearances. Elves are just people with pointy ears, orcs are just people with green skin, etc. There is no longer any real "diversity" just different coats of paint on the same boring stories.
And yet, despite race being a purely social construct, they’ll still dismiss transracialism.
The dissolution of race is only for white cultures, peoples, and nations. Sorta like how postmodernism never targets Marxism.
yep. fantasy european based races will be diverse.. but if some fantasy african tribe appears in the same game or story, they will all be black.
which is ironic because that implies africans are racist and xenophobic since they aren't diverse lol.
I'm reminded of one of the Legend of Korra hack writers (but I repeat myself,) crowing about adding South Asians to Republic City. Because four fantasy nations and ethnicities simply weren't enough.
