MOST of China is fake, fake buildings, fake economic growth, fake military (in regards to some silos and prowess)
It's why I call them a glass cannon, all Taiwan needs is enough firepower and force to stump a first wave attack on them and there's a high chance there is nothing to follow on from that.
No, their older carriers are the ones that used the ski ramp. What they did was they tried to replicated the electromagnetic catapults the US is switching to to replace the steam based ones (the EM launchers being capable of heavier planes and/or higher payloads). BUT it still uses diesel engines instead of the nuclear reactors US carriers do, so they very quickly discovered they dont generate enough electrical power to actually run the catapults. They also apparently fucked up the build quality (like usual), and it was spotted in drydock with cracks running through the flight deck.
The Chinese military is a joke, and the only threat they pose is subversion. And even that is starting to wane as their economy sputters and dies.
Don't worry. A few more generations of DEI hires and I'm sure we can have shitty power generation and cracked flight decks in the west too.
With our glorious ruling class' expert leadership, one day, we WILL catch down to China!
I don't think it's appropriate to compare reality to cartoons but god damn I cant help but notice how China is literally a saturday cartoon force of evil where the head honcho is a slightly charismatic midwit ruling over a bunch of incompetent half conscious simpletons.
Something something rocket fuel for cooking ramen.
That's not actually that unusual - it's not as effective as a steam catapult, but still lets you launch more heavily laden aircraft from the too-short runway of an aircraft carrier.
That ski jump thing is from old as fuck Soviet technology.
china is a complete joke.
Invading an incredibly urban place like Taiwan when you don't want to level it with firebombings is nearly impossible. You can never clear all the buildings and there is too much underground tunnels and infrastructure that make it easy to move around.
Cultural and political subversion is the way to go.
Taiwan doesn't have a fighting population ready to pick up kitchen knives (weapons are extremely controlled in East Asia) and fight in the tunnels like the vietcons. Taiwan has an aging population with low birth rates, their youths are the same demoralized wagies like everywhere else. Just bomb their exposed power plants during mid summer and watch taiwans economy collapse in 2 weeks as they suffer no ac and no water.
China wouldn't have the time to wait, ANY attack would force America to immediately blockade China with their navy, cutting off the supplies China relies on. Even Beijing Biden hasn't got the leverage required to hold off a response for a day let alone 2 weeks.
With supplies cut off, China will fall before Taiwan does especially since there's a high chance Japan and South Korea would immediately move to provide aid.
Taiwan isn't Jewish, I wouldn't count on foreign intervention to save the day
Wait until you learn about the "tofu dregs" that are their awful construction steel
Oh I KNOW about their construction materials and how their steel is complete and utter shit.
A lot of those ghost cities aren't just vacant because they built too much and property prices plummeted, a lot of those buildings are more unsafe than living in a tent on sand they are that structurally weakened.
I remember hearing from some friends I had in the engineering program when I was in college. They had gone to China with the business school to see some construction projects (an office park aimed at foreign companies, specifically), and the engineering students were interested in how fast they were building it.
As they are being lead around by their handler who is explaining all of the wonderful amenities that will be available and the profit that stands to be made, but the engineers were becoming more and more concerned as they saw more structural defects, construction errors, and other things that are considered baseline equipment missing. Eventually, one of them worked up the courage to ask a question: "Where are the cement mixers?" as they had not seen any the entire time.
And with a smile beaming on her face, their handler informed them that they didnt have any, as in order to ensure "maximum employment opportunities" they created concrete in small batches by hand.
The business students spent the rest of the trip talking about the money they could stand to make doing this. The engineering students spent the rest of the trip panicking at every noise they heard and keeping their head on a swivel for the nearest exit at all times. And this was back in the early 2010's. I can only imagine how much worse it is now, when you have Filipino fishing boats capable of punching holes in Chinese destroyers.
America, despite all their issues, has China outgunned even with the personnel size difference for the same reason they outgunned the Soviets:
China LIES about their capabilities, the US spends huge amounts of money to MEET those lies.
Best example is the F-15, that was built to meet the lies the Soviets told about the Mig and, well, there's a reason it's K/D is 104-0. Now take that and apply it to ALL Chinese infrastructure and military equipment and, well, a war with China might just lead to a billion dead....just on one side...
Ah, university flashbacks. Business majors are sociopaths and psychopaths, to a
manxer.I dunno if it's true or not, but I read a lot of their steel is recycled from large salvage. Melted and re-poured? So it is not structurally strong at all as they aren't doing the full process. There's entire ship and vehicle graveyards in India that strip all of the large chunks and send it to China to be melted.
I saw them having building bricks that were fake, too. It's such a weird place.
China's assault on Taiwan, if it ever happens, will be the government shutting down all seaborne freight for three weeks as they pile soldiers on to hundreds of civilian cargo ships intended to be used as transports.
This is the only way they can get the personnel required into Taiwan to invade it, a plan that is easily pre-detected, and easily countered by Taiwan.
They'll never attack, they'll just do shit like flying planes into their borders forcing scrambles. An attack would end horribly for them - and they know it.
I wonder if an attack on Taiwan would end with Taiwanese fighter jets flying a one way trip to pound the 3 Gorges Dam (and by extension like 400 million people) into oblivion.
