You need to gatekeep ALL your hobbies like its a military DMZ, women can only join if they pass inspection, spies get deported.
This is also why I hope Evangelion NEVER gets a Western adaptation.
The best time to do it was when Robin Williams could have played Gendo. And that's gone now.
It will never get a western adaptation because it demonstrates Asuka created a façade of being a girlboss to hide her daddy/mommy issues, it's not even hyperbole, it's confirmed in the rebuilds
If they made a western version you just KNOW they would make her a full on girl boss without any issues. Shinji would be even more of a simp and Misato would be some ugly black chick or something. Also make Rei non binary for good measure.
The series proper too.
Wait, that was on the cards?
The closest I heard was the Rebuild films but a Western Adaptation? Unlike even One Piece, I feel it's themes will FLY STRAIGHT OVER normies and the propaganda media will be too scared it's message will convinced their useful idiots to touch grass lol
I think its just a thought because Robin was a huge Eva fan in the 90s and shoved it into a bunch of his works.
So much like Henry Cavill and his fandoms, he was the only person who could possibly make an adaption work.
Yeah, in the early 2000s.
Robin himself was a strong advocate for it. He was a HUGE Eva fan. That figure you see in One Hour Photo? It came from Williams' own personal collection.
However, given the time period, while Williams would have been amazing as Gendo Ikari, I'm also certain he would have been the ONLY good thing about any such adaptation. But he himself would have treated the role and the property with all the respect it deserved.
There are reports that he even submitted a demo reel to voice Gendo in the Rebuild movies, but the role went to the guy who already had it, the great John Swasey.
And with how long it took for that last Rebuild movie to come out, and with Williams' dementia diagnosis driving him to suicide in 2014, this would have ended in some very Eva-befitting tragedy.
We should all count our lucky stars that Alita: Battle Angel was as great as it was. Lightning in a bottle, that one.
I am awed to learn that Robin Williams was an Evangelion fan. I'm not completely shocked though. He was a pretty thoughtful person.
Except that it was a huge disappointment. ;)
I despise Evangelion but I would absolutely show up to see that performance.
Robin Williams? lol
